We are committed to providing opportunities for youth to engage with their communities. We believe that by investing in our youth we are investing in the health of our communities. We work with our community partners to provide leadership trainings, adult mentoring, opportunities for civic engagement, and trainings that teach youth the tools necessary to conduct community research projects. Through our collaborative efforts with other youth development providers we offer a wide array of activities that promote asset development and prepare youth, our future leaders to become thriving adults.
Our Environmental Prevention approach provides the foundation for our youth leadership work. This approach changes the community context in which alcohol and other drug use and access occurs, enhances treatment and individual prevention efforts, and creates community-wide supports. Youth coalitions are formed and are involved in community-based change by engaging in high visibility, creative, research driven projects that call on community members and key adult stakeholders to take action.
These efforts are funded through San Mateo County BHRS, Kaiser, and the Sequoia Healthcare District.
