Drug Testing

Drug Testing

El Centro de Libertad offers drug testing services to outside agencies. We utilize a Laboratory that performs screening and confirmation with state-of-the-art technology and equipment. Drug tests are done with observed urine samples and we have a chain of custody procedure in place. Each of our staff receives training on the protocols and procedures for testing. Our tests are 10 panel tests, which also measure creatnine levels in the urine to prevent adulteration.

The presumptive positives are confirmed by thin layer chromatography (TLC), radioimmunoassay (RIA), gas chromatography (GC), gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS), or Liquid Chromatography/Tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC/MS/MS). Results are typically reported in 24 hours if the test result is negative and 48-72 hours if the test results are positive.

Upon request we can test specifically for alcohol through etg/ets testing. This test detects recent usage more accurately and for a longer period of time than standard alcohol testing. Positive tests are a strong indicator of alcohol ingestion within the previous 3-4 days. Other tests which may be requested detect spice and also suboxone.

Testing as Part of Treatment

Drug testing in treatment helps build trust between the client and the counselor. Positive tests are not used as a punitive measure in treatment but rather as a tool to help those we work with identify difficulties in staying clean and together find solutions to overcoming these roadblocks in treatment and recovery.

Many of those in treatment report feeling proud of their first negative test, and that it gives them incentive to continue forward in their journey of recovery. Negative drug tests are also useful to provide the Courts if you have legal issues related to substance use.
